Awards and Recognition
The League of American Orchestras, founded in 1942 and chartered by Congress in 1962, provides leadership and service to American orchestras while communicating to the American public the value and importance of orchestras and the music they perform. Its work is made possible by membership support, grants from private and public foundations, and contributions from individuals. The League's membership includes some 890 member orchestras, 1260 professional affiliates, 165 business members, and hundreds of individual members.
